The Bicycle Summit 2022 in Copenhagen

Tour de France – Grand Départ not only shines a spotlight on the sport of cycling, but is also an extraordinary opportunity to talk about everyday cycling. Denmark hosting the Grand Départ is an ideal opportunity to sharpen the political focus on everyday cycling culture as a green, healthy, and socially inclusive mode of transportation across regions and sectors, not only in Denmark but all over the World. At the Bicycle Summit 2022, the Danish host cities along with several private and public partners wish to add value for cyclists across regions and sectors.

Cycling can contribute to solutions to central challenges in contemporary society

Cycling is relevant for several key political agendas like climate change, public health, the environment, and creating safe spaces for children. There is great potential to increase cycling and thereby contribute to solving some of society’s central challenges, but to realize this potential requires more and stronger cooperation around cycling efforts. Therefore, key decision makers convene at The Bicycle Summit in Copenhagen to mark a seminal before and after regarding the strategic work with cycling.

New ambitions and closer cooperation on the cycling agenda

The need for cooperation not only exists at local, regional, and national levels, but also on an international level, where cities and countries already share knowledge and ambitions. As a result, the focus on cycling has increased in the later year, and many cities, countries and international networks have used pioneering approaches to improve cycling conditions. At the Bicycle Summit, we aim to take these efforts to the next level. We have invited selected international keynote speakers to share their stories of local transformation and have prepared inspiring sessions on to how to strengthen efforts in everyday cycling planning both nationally and internationally.

A coalition of 33 partners are behind the Bicycle Summit 2022 to take place as a one-day event on Thursday the 30th of June 2022 the day before the Grand Départ.
